Bilkis Nuhu Kokroko excels as a development advocate and public relations professional who has over a decade of dedication under her belt. She has inexhaustibly worked for the betterment of women and children and has earned a solid reputation in the industry for her exceptional negotiation skills and event management expertise.
Bilkis who has a 13-year experience in customer service, ascended the career ladder, as Managing Director at Dangaskiya Ventures Limited.
She however took a three-year break to cater for her daughters. She resumed her role in the professional arena where she participated in women’s rights advocacy campaigns with renewed passion.
Bilkis has been consistent in creating a platform and giving a voice to the marginalised, from the #Hijabisanidentity campaign to the #DontTaxMyPeriod movement.
She is the founder of the Muslimah Mentorship Network (MMN) and co-founder of HopeForHer Africa, dedicated to empowering young women. MMN provides sexual and menstrual health education and distributes sanitary pads to girls in local Islamic schools across Ghana.
HopeForHer Africa focuses on education, economic opportunities, and social support for women. It runs various projects to advocate for girls’ rights and protect victims of forced marriages.
Bilkis’s ambition extends to pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Communication to strengthen her advocacy work. She believes that with more research, more resources and policies can be allocated to address the sexual health needs of Muslim women and girls.
Despite her busy schedule, Bilkis finds time to write about issues affecting women and children, and other marginalized groups.
